Aims and Scope

Journal Objectives:

  1. The journal seeks to create a cultural and artistic dialogue between Persian-speaking and Arabic-speaking communities by promoting interaction between their literary and artistic creations and presenting a bright image of the achievements of each.

  2. The journal aims to introduce Arabs to the rich Iranian literary heritage and introduce Iranians to the ancient Arabic creative works through in-depth critical studies, whether independent or comparative, covering all literary genres, both poetry and narrative, classical and modern.

  3. The journal seeks to promote the values of mutual understanding, dialogue, and pluralism by revealing points of convergence between the self and the other, and building a world governed by the values of openness and tolerance.

  4. The journal aims to be a leading scholarly platform that attracts researchers from all over the world and encourages cooperation between Iranian and Arab universities to enhance critical studies in the field of literature and art.

  5. The journal aims to establish a comprehensive literary and critical database to serve as a reference for researchers and students in the fields of Iranian and Arabic literature.

  6. The journal works to consolidate the status of the University of Tehran as a leading academic center in Iranian and Arabic studies by publishing distinguished research that contributes to enriching literary and critical knowledge.

Journal Scope and Focus

The journal is published in Arabic and welcomes rigorous research on the creative works of the Arabic language and Iranian languages and dialects (such as Persian, Kurdish, Luri, Balochi, Azerbaijani, Pashto, and other Iranian languages and dialects), through the following two main areas:

First: In the field of Narrative Studies (Independent or Comparative)

  • For Quranic stories and other Arabic and Iranian sacred texts.

  • For Arabic and Iranian narrative heritage (especially its literary and historical aspects).

  • For modern Iranian and Arabic narrative genres (such as the novel, short story, play, cinematic film, and other genres).

  • The relationship between narrative genres and other genres and arts.

  • For Iranian and Arabic folk narrative genres (myth, fable, tale, proverbs, riddles).

Second: In the field of Poetic Studies (Independent or Comparative)

This area focuses on studying:

  • Classical Arabic and Iranian poetry (pre-Islamic and post-Islamic).

  • Contemporary and modernist Iranian and Arabic poetry.

  • The relationships between Iranian and Arabic poetry and other arts and genres.

  • Arabic and Iranian folk poetry.
