This papers studies Sharif Razi's literary character especially the characteristics of his ghazals. His Hijaziyat, which are representative of his ghazal writing style, are his best poems and his gateway into poetry. Hijaziyat, especially 'maymiyyah', reflects his great genius, for it displays all the beautiful features of ghazal. In Razi's ghazals one can clearly see the dominance of religious values over corporeal ones, honor and magnanimity over passion and carnal desires, and reason over sentiments. His ghazals are full of life and deep emotions that have their origin in chastity and virtuosity; they are filled with images of loyalty, love, devotion, tolerance as well as subtle criticism.
