During the stage between the two world wars (1945-1918), the modern Lebanese literature has experienced the appearance of a number of pioneer poets in the field of poetic modernism. In this stage, with resort to the school of European Romanticism, they tried to free Arabic poem from the constraints of traditional forms and concepts, and at the same time direct it towards accommodation with the universal current of modern literature. Salah Labkey is one of the most outstanding Lebanese modernism poets who had a tendency to the school of French Romanticism and symbolism. He was able to proceed successfully and hand down precious works in this area.
