Abstract

In the existing age, many great individuals composed epic such as Ahmed Shaoghi, Bolas Salama, Omar Abu Risha. However imagination is what we cannot observe in their epics while it is a requisite for epical poem. The only poet who elaborately took advantage of imagination in his epics is Faozi Ma'loof, the Lebanese prominent poet, in "Ala bisat al-Rih". Faozi Ma'loof is a modernist and imaginative poet whose poems are sometimes known as poetry of sorrow and grief. It should be noted that composing such poems is resulted from his sickness during a period. This epic is a trip of fantasy which includes his unique approach. He appreciates good human virtues and displays oriental and romantic spirit. He states that human beings have not applied helpful inventions by intelligent people for their survival and prosperity. In contrast they have just used them for annihilation and massacre. In fact, this epic is a revolution against present materialistic progress which the poet believes does not lead to human prosperity.
