In the book Albayan va Altabeen, Jahiz declares the Consept of eloquence in detail and studies it in relation to oratory, statement and rhetoric. He classifies eloquence into the eloquence of speaker, word, letter and speech, and supposes some criteria, till now, are in use to recognize eloquent from non-eloquent which nobody has pointed to. This article aims to study the eloquence criteria from Jahiz’ viewpoint, extracted and rounded up in a book. He concerns the issue whether these criteria are limited to qualities pertaining to speaker, word and language or are affected by other factors neglected from critics’ views?
