Abstract

The Arabic novel has become an important tool for representing political crises. It is an evocation of the political man in his complex relations within the Arab society. Political anthropology is therefore an important field for studying the novel and exploring the interweaving of cultural values with political ideologies, shaping political behavior. This is evidenced in the novels of the Egyptian writer Alaa Al-Aswany in his depiction of religious discourse and reflects the intellectual and political conflicts that Egypt has witnessed in recent times. The novel “Republic of False Truths” is one of the novels that deal with the religious discourse in dealing with the revolution of January 25, 2011, as the most important social incident that changed the political conditions. With a descriptive-analytical approach from the perspective of political anthropology, the article aims to shed light on how religious identities shape political behavior.  And the role of ideologies in legitimizing or competing for power in Egypt. To conclude that the opportunistic religious discourse is represented by hypocritical personalities such as “Nourhan”, the media broadcaster, And Major General Ahmed Alwani, head of the government security apparatus, who is known among the people as “the pilgrim.” And “Sheikh Shamil” is the model of “the sheikhs of the sultan,” which limits Islam to prayer, fasting, and hijab. collaborated with the criminal sovereign apparatus to thwart the Egyptian revolution, the swaying religious discourse of the Salafist and Brotherhood discourse that colluded with the army. which made the novel interesting.
